Description
SPIKE is LEGO’s current educational robotics solution, replacing older platforms like Mindstorms in many school settings. It combines LEGO Technic parts with a programmable hub, sensors, motors, and a companion app for building and coding.
Features
- Programmable Hub & Sensors: The central “hub” connects to motors and sensors (color, distance, force, etc.), letting robots sense and respond to their environment.
- App-Based Programming: Uses a drag-and-drop interface (based on Scratch) for beginners, and transitions toward text (Python) coding as students advance.
- Built-In Lessons & Curriculum: SPIKE comes with guided, standards-aligned lessons and building instructions, designed to fit into class periods.
- Classroom Management / Scaling: Teachers can manage multiple student sets, coordinate lessons, and guide projects in classroom or lab environments.
- Progressive Coding Journey: Students begin with icon/word blocks and gradually move to full Python coding — ensuring support for beginners and challenges for advanced learners.
- Open-Ended & Creative Builds: Beyond guided lessons, students can invent their own robots, explore problem-solving, iterate designs, and take part in competitions (like FIRST LEGO League).
