Description

Fusion 360 is a professional tool used in industry and academia to design, simulate, and produce real products. In the educational version, users get access to almost all the same powerful capabilities, making it ideal for STEM classes, robotics, engineering, product design, and maker projects. The educational license is intended only for noncommercial, educational use.

Features

Here are some of the core capabilities students and educators can make use of:

  • 3D Modeling & Design — Create solid, parametric, direct, surface, sculpt (freeform) and mesh-based geometry.
  • Assemblies — Combine parts into assemblies, define joints and motion relationships, check interference and kinematics.
  • Simulation & Analysis — Test stress, thermal, modal (vibration), and motion behaviours before building.
  • CAM & Manufacturing — Plan toolpaths for CNC milling, turning, and additive manufacturing; simulate NC toolpaths.
  • Electronics / PCB Design — For projects requiring circuitry, Fusion includes PCB layout, schematic capture, and integration.
  • Rendering & Visualization — Produce photorealistic images or animations of designs.
  • Collaboration & Cloud Data Management — Store projects online, track versions, share with teammates, manage permissions.
  • Generative Design — Explore multiple design alternatives optimized for criteria (e.g. weight, stiffness) using AI-aided tools.
  • Documentation & Drawing Tools — Create 2D technical drawings and annotated documentation from your models.

How to Access

Fusion 360 for Education is only available on middle school ADST devices and in high school computer labs.

Students

Students need to request an account through their teacher every year.

  • Login with teacher provided account (you will receive an invite email from your teacher).

Educators

Teachers will need to request access via IT. This only needs to be done once and then will work for subsequent years.

  • Login with district account
